Getting WEBMIN to auto-start on Tiger (10.4).

webmin is a superb piece of open source software for system management. Until the release of Mac OS X Tiger (10.4) the standard install of webmin would launch at system startup. To get webmin to auto-start you need to use the new launchd service.

All that needs to be done is to create a launchd job file for webmin. This file should be called "webmin.plist" and it should be stored in "/Library/LaunchDaemons".

The webmin.plist file is a text file. Open your text editor of choice and copy and paste this text into a new file:

Save this file as "/Library/LaunchDaemons/webmin.plist". On the next system reboot webmin should load and start.
